How do I know if my power supply can support the i3 or i5 CPU?

Ok, here is my big question:

How do I know if my power supply can support the i3 or i5 CPU?

I also have one more question:

Is there really that big of a difference for the power needs of an i5 vs. a Q9550? If yes, what exactly is the difference [Example: more watts, different voltage, etc.]?

Apevia isn't a very good brand of Power Supplies. But if you've been lucky enough to get a good one then your 680 watt model should be just fine

The i5's use less power than the Q9550's, so you should be fine.
