1. What are the differences between the i7 980x and the Xeon X5680 CPU's that work for and against use in a Gaming computer and Workstation computer?
2. On a LGA 1366 Motherboard, can you use higher clock frequencies RAM than the Motherboard is said to be using, example, if the board is said to use 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM, can you make the bored use 2000+Mhz RAM?

Your help is greatly needed.

1. The i7 is a desktop CPU. The Xeon is a server CPU. (AFAIK)

2. You must use the speed or lower that the motherboard specifies. But yes, you can kick it up, that is called overclocking.

The xeon processor is slightly faster at stock than the 980x.
The main difference, however, is that the 980x has an unlocked multiplier, which means it's MUCH easier to overclock it.

If you had to get one, I'd go with a 980x and OC it.

As to the ram question, technically the i7's can only officially support 1066Mhz ram, but unofficially they can run ram as high as 2000Mhz, even higher in some cases.
