NEED HELP PC WONT START :(

this is my first time posting so sorry if this is in the wrong area.

recently i tried installing a new ram to increase my memory in my hp pavilion 522n. however when i put the ram in it made an odd ventilation noise like it was over worked. or something. i quickly turned it off and took out the original ram chip thing out of my computer. checked to see if it was the same. after i saw that it was. i decided to just leave the original in so i placed it back in had a bit of trouble snapping it in but i finally did. now the computer wont start. the pc goes on. but it doesnt boot up and the screen just stays blank please HELP i dont know what to do im totally lost

Did you turn off the PC when installing?
Have you tried starting it up without the new RAM?
Have you tried other RAM slots?
Have you tried a combination of different slots and different RAM modules?
Have you checked to ensure the RAM is properly seated?
Have you checked to ensure the RAM is compatible with your MB?

Take out all the ram, and install ONLY one stick. make sure that it's the right way around and don't force it. It'll only fit one way.
