Hey,

trying to build a desktop for a mate before I move miles away from him, so any advice appreciated asap!

He wants to watch films, listen to tunes, go online, etc, also to dabble with some audio production using Cubase. He's not what I'd call a 'power user' but he does want something he cn grow into & that is vaguely future proof - & that comes in at £550 max.

Not built a PC for several years, nor have I kept up with technology since the Core2Duos came out, but last time I posted a similar topic on here I got some valued help building my own PC, so here goes nothing!

Anyway, after a little research this is what I have come up with so far - suggestions & other advice much welcomed...

Asus P7P55D-E LX Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard - £117.49
Intel Core i3 530 2.93Ghz (Clarkdale) (Socket LGA1156) Processor - Retail - £93.99
Sony 24x Internal DVDRW SATA Silver Bare Drive - £19.46
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4670 "Ultimate Edition" 512MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card - £63.44
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit - £105.74
Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 1TB 3.5" SATA II Hard Drive - OEM - £56.39
Seagate Barracuda ST380815AS 80GB 3.5" SATA II Hard Drive - OEM - £28.14

Total: (inc. VAT) £484.64

plus Audiophile 2496 soundcard (around £56).

:) THANK YOU in advance!

Will
