Ok I'm trying to build an up to date gaming rig on a very limited budget. There is scope for upgrades in the future so this is what my initial build with the 955BE has in mind. Although i am tempted to swap it out but i'm worried i'll lose room to upgrade in the next 6-12 months. I would greatly appreciate any comments and advice and please be aware im from the UK so no newegg, and scan is a 10 minute drive from my house so its the prefferred etailer.

This is what i have so far

650W EZcool PSU 29.10

Asus TA-851 silver/black midi case + additional 120 + 80 mm fans 26.40

AMD phenom II X4 955 BE 130.37

4GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600 106.24

ASUS M4A79XTD EVO, AMD 790X, AM3, PCI-E 2.0, DDR3 1333/1600/1800, SATS 3GB/s, ATX 86.68

Artic cooling freezer 7 pro-v2 15.97

1gb xfx HD5770 132.27

320GB hitachi deskstar7k1000 sata 3gb/s 7200rpm 16mb cache 8.5ms 30.07

Total 561.54 from Scan.co.uk: Leading supplier of Computer Hardware

First of all i am wondering if this will happily run all modern games and secondly what i would lose by switching out the mobo/proc/ram for this below deal from ebuyer and banging on another 2gb of ddr3 1333 generic ram as it would save me 90GBP which could either be put towards a new monitor or better GPU.

Thanks, Bentini

I would go for this instead of the CPU you picked - it's pretty much as good, and £7 cheaper Scan.co.uk: HDX945WFGIBOX - AMD Phenom II X4 945, Deneb Core, Socket AM3, 3.0GHz, 8MB Total Cache, HT 2000MHz, 95W, Retail

The 0.2GHz you lose you can easily get back with very basic overclocking.

That sounds like a good idea for your budget - the CPU isn't greatly slower, and the RAM speed doesn't really matter unless you're a hardcore overclocker. And woot, you get Dirt 2 ;)

if i did swap out the 955be for the 630, would i better off upgrading the 5770 to a 5850 or would the 5770 suffice? leaving me room to upgrade my ancient 19inch widescreen thats capped at 1280/1024 (lol)
thanks

It's really up to you, personally I would go for 5770 + new monitor. No point in having a 5850 if you can't appreciate the details it gives you :|

Or, you can get the 5850, and then wait however long it will take for you to get a new monitor, and have epic graphics + better monitor. Really depends on how long it would take you to save up for the monitor.
