Why the switch to the XT, D5, and micro res?

Don't get the radiator with the internal reservoir if you will already have one. It doesn't help performance whatsoever.

Why wouldn't extra buffer length/fluid amount help cooling? Sorry, I guess I'm applying theoretical science to liquid cooling. As for the res, it has a smaller form factor, and thats important for my mod. Plus it's in stock which makes a big difference. :p

Realistically, no. Adding more liquid won't help, it's surface area (radiator fins) that helps performance. So while the reservoir portion of the radiator does add a small amount of surface area, it is insignificant and doesn't add any substantial (if any) boost in the rads ability to dissipate heat.

I'd get an XSPC rad over a thermochill. Better performance and lower price. But really, the difference between the Thermochill and Swiftech is minimal (about a 75W difference in heat dissipation at any given fan RPM) and considering the swiftech 320's $49 price tag, you really can't beat it.
