Upgrading/Changing motherboard

My cousin has an Alienware computer. He's wondering if he can upgrade his motherboard, because the Alienware logo appears when he right clicks on my properties in 'My Computer'. So he thinks that it might screw up the system, if he changes the mobo. What do you guys think?

The Alienware logo appears because Windows has been pre-installed by Alienware. You can replace your motherboard.

Yeah i was thinking about that too, so that means he needs a new copy of windows right?

maybe...its reccomended to re-install XP after changing the motherboard. U need an XP disc to do this...maybe u have a restore disc from alienware?

U can also try to leave XP as it is and hope it works after changing the motherboard. But backup everything before doing this.

why is he worried that just because it's showing their logo it's going to screw up his system? Granted I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it infact did run smoother with a fresh clean install
