I've really been out of wack lately with the tech stuff, and I need to build a couple computers for a couple of people.

One budget is 600$ with no OS or monitor.
The other budget is 800$ with no OS, but with a monitor, preferably something 24".

If you guys could help me out, that'd be great, thanks.

hey dude. i know we don't really know each other but i remember you. where ya been >.<

so what are the intended uses for these rigs? where can you/they shop from? newegg?

Heh, been busy with life/work, etc.
No time for anything.

Intended uses, well, the 600$ rig is for gaming.

The 800$ rig is for browsing, but, its for my father and hes too old to understand that 800$ is way too much for checking e-mails, he is also stubborn and won't have it any other way.
(Ordering with his credit card, therefore, grabbing some extra cash isn't a choice.)

The irony gets to me quite a bit, but I love irony. Haha.

Edit: Yeah, newegg.

Here are a couple of options for the $800 build:

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!
phenom II + biostar mobo

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!
ocz psu + optical drive

Newegg.com - A-DATA Gaming Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model AX3U1600GB2G9-AG - Desktop Memory
Newegg.com - Palit NEAT2400FHD01 GeForce GT 240 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Newegg.com - ASUS VH242H Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1000:1 (ASCR 20000:1) Built in Speakers - LCD Monitors
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER ELITE 335 RC-335-KKN1-GP Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

total: $790.91 +$9.22 shipping on monitor = $800.13

if you know you're gonna be fine without a video card, then here's another option:

Using the same cpu/motherboard (it has onboard video)/memory/PSU/optical as above, but with the following upgraded components (at the expense of dropping the video card):

Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 2494SW Glossy Black 24" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 50000:1 (1000:1) - LCD Monitors
Newegg.com - LIAN LI Lancool PC-K7B Black Aluminum/ SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

slightly better monitor, and a nicer case is pretty much what you get here.

Good Luck.
