Dear Tekkies,

I have just joined the forum and am looking for help.

I have damaged 2 USB hard drives by connecting them to a faulty hub, and as a result windows XP cannot see them.

I would like to recover the data but I want use of the drives. I think they are both Toshiba, one is 40Mb and one is 80 MB.

Can anyone help in trying to reclain thes disks?

hmmm i'm not totally sure how to go about that. the first thing that pops into my mind is those little usb adapter hard drive enclosures. if that is what you are using then you can remove the hard drive easily from the usb system and just install it as a regular drive. i'm not sure if the fully integrated usb hard drives use standard 3.5" hard drives that could be removed from the housing and used normally or not...

Dear Ibreevesli,

Thanks for your reply.

One of the drives I bought was installed at the shop, and the casing and drive were bought separately.

The other drive was bought as a unit, I don't know whether they can be separated.
