Dell Inspiron 1100 CD/DVD issue

I have an old Dell Inspiron that I use as a sampling machine..Its old but trusty and amply fast for what I need it for..However the CD drive has stopped working. I am competent at working with laptops, but cant get the drive out. I have removed the screw, flipped the switch by the memory console..wont come out..I really need to use it, annoyingly..

Andy ideas or suggestions???

Welcome to TF!

You could just use an external cd/dvd-rw. I find much use for them for everything, not just laptops.

Also, is it not detected or doesn't read/open?
