Hey Tech-Forums, I'm new hear and just did some advice on a new computer build. I have about $1000 to spend and this will be my first computer that I will build. The Computer would mainly be used for video/photo editing and a bit of gaming.

I'm looking at getting:

Seventeam 650W PSU - LIAN LI K58W Case
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

i7 930 Processor - Gigabyte X58A
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

OCZ 6GB (3 X 2GB) RAM - Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Card
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

Sony Optiarc Black DVD Writer
Newegg.com - Sony Optiarc Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA DVD/CD Rewritable Drive - CD / DVD Burners

Questions
I did a bit of research and found that i7 9XX uses 4.8 GT/s QPI and i7 8XX uses 2.5 GT/s DMI. Whats does all this mean?
Is it worth getting an i7 over a dual core? Like do i need the extra core for my uses?
The Radeon 5770 and the Radeon 5870 have such a massive price difference. What makes the features of the 5870 so expensive?

Radeon 5770
Newegg.com - XFX HD-577X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Radeon 5870
Newegg.com - XFX HD-587X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5870 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Sorry about all these questions its just that this is my first time doing this, hope you understand. Thanks

Everything looks good.

5770 should be good enough for you since you're not doing any hard-core gaming, its still a very nice card. The 5870 is considerably more expensive because its considerably more powerful; i doubt you'd need it.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Still wondering if anyone can answer my question on the Intel processor.

Cheers
