I'm no computer expert, though I do know a bit, so if possible, please give the reasoning behind your comment. I play a few mmos occasionally, in additions to a few other games (Both KotOR's, SWBF II, and more)

I won't have a lot of money, so this is going to have to be a budget build. I want to have the option to expand in the future, though.

So far, what I have in mind:

Case:
CoolerMaster HAF 922 Mid Tower Gaming Case - Black
About $80

Meter Display:
NZXT Sentry 2 LCD Touch Screen Fan Controller /w Temperatures Display Black
About $28

Case Lighting:
Red Cathode
About $5

Power Supply:
450w
Already have (may get a better one if I need to)

Motherboard:
Asus P5P43TD Core 2 Quad/ Intel P43/ DDR3/ A&GbE/ ATX Motherboard
About $85

Processor:
Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8300 2.5GHz 1333MHz 4MB LGA775 CPU, OEM
About $133

Memory:
OCZ OCZ3RPR16004GK 4GB PC3-12800+ (DDR3-1600+) DDR3 Memory Retail
About $70

Hard Drives:
80GB 7200RPM SATA Desktop HDD
About $25
20GB
Already own

Comes out to $426, and then there is shipping. Any opinions on what I have/don't have?

I wouldn't pop $80 on a case for a budget build.
I'd get the Rosewill Blackbone or a $20 Gigabyte case at a local retailer.

If I were you, I'd probably go Athlon II and AM3 with the Asus 780L motherboard

I can see where you are coming from with the case, but that's one of the most important things to me. I don't care if the games are as smooth as butter, just smoother than cutting a diamond with a spoon...

I'd like to keep this under $600, so there is still SOME room to work with.

I agree with the OP; I have been basically building nothing but budget systems for a long time now, and I have never regretted spending a premium on a good case. They make a world of difference.

this cpu/gfx card combo
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

and the mobo .clown listed

would be better. amd's upcoming 6 core cpu will be coming for the am3 socket if you're really worried about future options, whereas lga775 is basically at the end of its road just like .clown also mentioned.

with that cpu/gfx card combo, you get a phenom ii quad and a faster gfx card, a 5770 which also supports dx11.
