Trouble updating SSD drive

Hey everyone!

I recently purchased THIS OCZ Vertex SSD drive. When I was reading up on how to get the most out of it, one thing I read was to activate AHCI on my mobo before installing windows. That went fine and windows runs great.

My issue is, I now want to check to see if the firmware of the SSD needs to be upgraded per THIS. My issue is, this only works when the drive is in IDE mode. I tried changing it to IDE and had the updater on a USB stick (I made sure the USB stick boots before the HD), but all I get is a message that says "Missing operating system."

Does anyone have any ideas? I also don't really have another system to throw this drive in to update it unfortunatly.

If nothing is wrong with it, I would leave it as is. If you are having problems, then I would suggest getting the latest drivers/firmware

As said above ^, if it works as it should, don't try to many new stuff on it to get "most out of it". As by doing so might cause it to malfunction or not be usable at all.

I figured it out. I just used the CD updater instead of the USB. Thanks guys!
