Re: TF Official AS SSD/HDD Benchmark Thread

Since it's been more than 24hours I can no longer edit my original post which is why I haven't updated the scores. I am keeping track of whats posted though and I will see if one of the mods can add the new scores in bulk every so often.

The Ranking looks Good to me :D

I see... so you like to be on top

I endeavor to persevere :D

Re: TF Official AS SSD/HDD Benchmark Thread

Sweet thread, I'll post up a score when I get home and do a run.
I've got a patriot torqx drive, they've got great read speeds but I've read they suck for small random read/writes. Guess I'll find out now :)

Re: TF Official AS SSD/HDD Benchmark Thread

Anyone here with an Intel X-25V 40Gb drive here that could post their results? I want to see If its better to pay slightly more for an indilinx controlled 60Gb drive.

dirkpitt is suppose to get one, but maybe he didn't see this thread
My intel 40gb should be here tomorrow or the next day :p Stupid purolator has no tracking at all.

You can also do a search for the Kingston SSDNow 40GB reviews
which is supposedly the same drive, but with Kingston stickers

Re: TF Official AS SSD/HDD Benchmark Thread

Red works good for me. It seems a little easier to see.

I just did a run with my Vertex:

On a side note...I just reran the Intel and got 28 less. It looks like, even with TRIM, there is a bit of drive degradation as they are used. That 308 score was on a brand new drive with no OS or anything on it.

Re: TF Official AS SSD/HDD Benchmark Thread

good idea. i so gotta get scsi drives in a rig to be like the only one to have a score there lol.

I would have both an SCSI and an SAS score but both servers are running SUSE...

EDIT: oh, and Puddle Jumper, just collate the scores as you want them to appear in the OP and make a new post. I'll copy and paste those scores over the ones already in there and delete the post.

Re: TF Official AS SSD/HDD Benchmark Thread

Yea I got the intel x-25v 40gb, but my score is really low?

I haven't had much free time since I've gotten it though. Never checked the firmware version or anything yet, haven't even installed a game on it :p Just got my os, office, photoshop, and illustrator, itunes, commodo, msn, maybe some other small things. About 15.2gb left, also my OS drive, maybe that has something to do with it?

But overall performance is really improved over my WD black. I love having all my adobe stuff and office open instantly. No waiting for the splash screen or nothing, its so nice. Just gotta get through this slog of work so I can have some fun :/

Re: TF Official AS SSD/HDD Benchmark Thread

You have Windows 7 and a New SSD, How do you know if TRIM is working?

Go to the Command Prompt and type:

fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify
<Enter>

DisableDeleteNotify = 1 (Windows TRIM commands are disabled)
DisableDeleteNotify = 0 (Windows TRIM commands are enabled)

How do I Enable TRIM?

Go to the Command Prompt and type:

fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 0
<Enter>

How do I Disable TRIM?

Go to the Command Prompt and type:

fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 1
<Enter>

thanks for that tip
still have to spread rep around before I can rep you though...

Interestingly, I googled up on it to read more
I found this article, which said windows defrag should be disabled by default on devices declaring themselves as SSD.
However, on my OCZ Agility, defrag was enabled by default.
just a heads up for everyone to double check
