Yesterday, upon returning home about 4 hrs. after I left, I found my computer monitor bugging out and giving me a message that read: display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Symptons:
1. Screen goes black and returns with the forementioned message constantly.
2. After continually black screens, computer shuts down and restarts. However, when rebooting it sounds like it is about to fly away or burn out. (Very concerned). I also included the blue screen message before it crashes.
3. Screen returns with horizontal lines across screen.

Please help.

In your situation, it sounds like the video card might be overheating. Download a program like HWMonitor to keep an eye on your temps.

Is this a prebuilt or custom machine? What video card, what OS?

I have been receiving the nvlddmkm error myself and I believe the problem is with the motherboard. But I did not have the same symptoms as you. I do not receive lines across the screen nor does it get loud.

I am waiting on a replacement motherboard. I have been dealing with this problem for several months. I hope you don't have the problem for as long as I had.
