How come the 1200 ones cost so much more?

On newegg, the cheapest you can find in the 24" range is $300. There is a 1080 for $210.

I'm not getting a new monitor; I already have a 1920x1200. I'm just curious why they're significantly more expensive.

1920 x 1080 is an HD standard. It's more common in LCDs than 1920 x 1200 monitors. The more common something is, the cheaper it's going to be. And obviously the 1200 having more pixels as well as the technology involved in manufacturing them.

The 1920X1200 monitors are getting hard to come by....consider yourself lucky Druid

Yea, I had a hard time finding a decent 1200 monitor that wasn't $500. It really just gives you more vertical real estate. So what if I have black bars when watching an HD movie...

As far as why they are more expensive, my thought would just be because they are running a higher resolution and that means more parts which means more money.
