everything look compatible? any places I can cut costs? would like to get it under $1000 so I can use the extra cash for a new keyboard.

You most likely don't need a sound card; most motherboards have integrated sound that is actually pretty decent.

You could also try to find combo deals to cut costs. For example:
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

Edit: Whoops, I automatically assumed you were buying from Newegg. But yeah, I agree with what Shiro says down below. You can go even lower down the phenom line, so long as its an X4, to meet your budget needs.

You can get the Sony Optiarc which is the same as your Samsung drive for 3$ cheaper.

You do NOT need a full tower case.
A mid tower will fit everything you have.
Why are you choosing the X Clio case anyway?
I recommend the Rosewill Blackbone right now.
Only 45$ with shipping included, and it can fit all your parts.

Hitachi Deskstar ....
I recommend AGAINST buying a Hitachi 'Deathstar'
Their failure rates aren't exactly good news.
Get a Samsung Spinpoint F3 or a Western Digital Caviar Black

I'll comment on the monitor in an edit.

5770's are good cards, but you should be able to get it for cheaper using a combo deal.

You don't need a sound card.

That RAM is decent for overclocking.

Buy the Phenom II X4 955 and overclock it.
It's the same as the 965, but $20-30 cheaper.
The 965 just has .2Ghz more. There really isn't a difference.

You don't need a 650w Corsair PSU unless you're planning on crossfiring two 5770's, and even then a 520w Antec Neo or 500w OCZ ModXstream would do you fine

here we go think i may settle on this. thanks for all the help and recommendations.

everything look compatible?

is there any new gfx cards/hardware/pricedrops coming out that might be worth waiting for? i could buy it right now, but if it will pay off to hold out for another month or two i could do that as well.

Its a great build but he also need the monitor. Maybe swap out that psu. But personally i would rather grab a 955 and nice am3 board and overclock that since for gaming there wont be a whole lot of difference.
