Building first gaming desktop

I am new to the gaming pc world but not new to computers in general. I would consider myself pretty computer savvy but not when it comes to the "gaming" computer hardware. I have all of my items in my "shopping cart" at newegg.com and ready to purchase but I need someone to tell me if everything is compatible and if the hardware will support all of the modern games.

So to the point, if anyone has an aim account that I can talk to and send an email with all of the items in my cart, I would greatly appreciate it. I would really like to make the purchase in the next couple of hours.

get this cpu/gfx card combo instead. same cpu and 5770, just from a different brand and $10 cheaper.

and this mobo/psu combo instead. this is also an am3 mobo with ddr3 and crossfire support and this psu will easily handle future upgrades like a second 5770. this combo is also more than $50 cheaper; I don't know why that seasonic psu in the combo you found costs so much.

I recommend this burner over the LITE ON burner because it has some faster read/write times, and it comes with Light Scribe, all for the same price as the LITE-ON burner.

The PSU you have selected is Waaaaaaay overkill for the power draw from the rest of your parts.
Your system would probably draw less than 250-300w of power at full load and you picked out a Seasonic Gold 650w?

That Antec Neo 520w would tie you over, and this combo deal saves you money on the 5770.

Do NOT get a 790GX if you're buying a dedicated graphics card.
The only difference between a 790X and a 790GX is that the GX has an IGP.
If you're buying a dedicated GPU, you don't need the 790GX, 790X motherboards are generally cheaper and have all the same features aside from lacking an integrated graphics card.

That case would tie you over just fine as well.

As far as the HDD goes.
That's a very good choice, if you wouldn't mind losing 250Gb though, and shaving $5 off the price, you can get a HDD that's on average at least 10Mb/s faster.

The Samsung Spinpoint F3 500Gb HDD is on average 10Mb/s faster than the Seagate 7200.12 750Gb HDD.
You can buy one on ewiz or Amazon for $55 free shipping.

Also your RAM is fine.

With all the money you could shave off by making these changes you may be able to up your CPU to the Phenom II X4 955 or possibly up your graphics card to the 5830 (If you wait for that to release in a couple weeks or so.)

Thanks for the feedback guys. I really appreciate it. Does everything else look good to go? Will this setup handle most games on the market right now? Oh and I forgot to mention, I will be using this on a vizio HDTV.. Will this setup be able to perform on that tv flawlessly?

It should be able to perform flawlessly on the HDTV you selected, but could you tell us the specs on that Vizio?
Such as, resolution, size, and connectors?

Well you could swap in the case, and the RAM you originally selected in the build I just posted, and it should still come out to about the same price if not cheaper than the original build you posted.
