hey guys,
i haven't upgraded my system in a while, and tax returns are coming soon, so thinking of upgrading. i don't really upgrade much as i don't use it that much. my current rig is in my Sig. MY VIDEO CARD JUST DIED, so i need one of that, plus maybe a new CPU and/or ram??
what do you guys think??

i normally use my computer for the internet, basic college student use, Minor gaming (Assassins Creed and/ or any old/new games on any setting about once a week), and minor video editing.

So what do you guys think. any suggestion on the video card.
And for the CPU, I was thinking the Q8300 or the E5200.

I can increase the budget if u guys think i will be better off buying/upgrading to even better parts.

I WONT BE UPGRADING AGAIN UNTIL NEXT YEAR, SO I WANT THE MOST OUT OF MY MONEY :)

any suggestion will be helpful.

Thanks in advance :)

this gfx card
Newegg.com - ZOTAC ZT-96SEQ3P-FDL GeForce 9600 GSO 256MB - up to 512MB with TurboCache 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
although both newegg and zotac lack any info on psu requirement, it does mention on nvidia's site that it requires a minimum 400w psu
GeForce 9600 GSO

for the cpu, a q8300 would be a heck of an upgrade from a p4, but there might be a problem because its not listed on the mobo's cpu support list
Foxconn Support - CPU Support List
only quads listed are:
- q6600 105w tdp
- q6600 95w tdp
- q6700
- q8200
- q9300
- q9400
- q9450
- q9550
- q9650

and you could also up the ram
2gigs Newegg.com - WINTEC AMPX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 3AXT6400C5-2048K - Desktop Memory
or
4gigs Newegg.com - WINTEC AMPX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model 3AXT6400C5-4096K - Desktop Memory

I'd go with the HD 4670 or HD 5670 over the 9600GSO anyday
the 9600GSO selling now is the neutered version with just 48 stream processors
the HD 4670 was already on par with, if not better than the non-neutered version of 9600GSO with 96 stream processors, so........ yup......

even the E5200 would be heck of a upgrade :D
Q8300 share same architecture as Q8200, so i don't see why it wouldn't work

RAM 2GB / 4 GB depends on how you want to shift your money around

could go HD 4670 / E5200 / 4GB
HD 4670 / Q8200 / 2GB
HD 5670 E5200 / 2GB

ok guys, i just got paid yesterday, so i am gonna order by this weekend. i need your valuable suggestions asap.
I am thinking of the E5200, but also temted on the Q8200, and the Q9400 :)
also i was thinking about an used Q6600 :).
let me know what you guys think.
any other suggestions on video card? would i need a better psu??
i really appreciate your inputs. need to order asap :). and since i got paid, i can increase my budget if needed :)

thanks

ok, i am doing some research on the 4670 and 5670's, but i cant seem find them on the GPU ranking list on our fourm. could you guys tell me where it stands. how much better is the 4850? any Nvidia equivalents of these cards? i've always been a fan of EVGA, but doesnt really matter. At this point, i just want a good best bang for the buck parts, and budget shifting wont be an issue.

thanks in advance guys.

450 Watt or greater power supply with 75 Watt 6-pin PCI Express® power connector recommended
(550 Watt and two 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireXâ„¢ technology in dual mode)

Go with the PSU MM suggested as your current 400W won't cut it with the 4850.
