System Specs:

GIGABYTE MA790XT-UD4P Motherboard
AMD Phenom II Dual Core CPU
ATI Radeon 4870HD 1GB GPU
4GB RAM DDR3
550W Power Supply

Before I begin, there is no overheating issues.

The computer will freeze up randomly. I can make it freeze up when I put it under the stress test in PRIME95. I can also make it freeze when installing certain programs. My sound just messed up a little while ago, and while it still works, it sounds absolutely horrible. I believe this may be a RAM issue due to the fact that PRIME95's test will lock it up and the sound recorder will not save any recordings and gives me the error message that "not enough memory is available. Close one or more programs and try again". I do not have a floppy drive so I cannot run memtest86. I do not know if the sound issue is related but I put my headphones in and it sounds the exact same. Any ideas on how to further test the RAM would be greatly appreciated, or if anyone has any other ideas on what it may be. Thank you.

Try testing your RAM with memtest.
|MG| MemTest 4.0 Download

Download it and burn the image to a CD. Use ImgBurn if you don't have a program capable of burning an image.
|MG| ImgBurn 2.5.0.0 Download

Boot your computer off of the disk and let it run. Give it overnight unless it starts erroring left and right. If you start getting a lot of errors, shut down and remove all but one stick. Work your way through every stick of RAM, and then work your way through every RAM slot to make sure it is not a bad slot.

I used system restore and it fixed the sound problem. I cannot burn a CD either. However, I did test the RAM sticks. If I attempt to boot with only 2GB of RAM, the compter either doesn't even get to the login screen, or shortly after I login to windows, the computer will crash. I tried all four of the slots and the results were the same. Tried both sticks. Results the same. It is usually accompanied by a constant beep. The Sound recorder issue is unrelated so disregard it. That is a flaw in the program itself.

Your PSU should be fine (I have no idea what matt123 is thinking...).

Do you have 2 x 2GB RAM, or 4 x 1GB RAM? I can't tell from the way you put it.

Also, what is the make and model, as well as the speed, of your RAM? Your motherboard may be running at a voltage different from what the RAM uses/needs. The board runs the RAM at 1.5V natively.

Well it's relatively new. Defective equipment maybe? The loud screeching noise when it freezes up that comes through the speakers happened on my old computer too but it never froze up when it started making the sound.
