understanding the psu

i would like for someone to explain the wattage range for certain computers.
like for instance, what would be the wattage range for a regular low end computer, a gaming computer, a high end multimedia computer, and ect ect. also what happens if you get a psu that has more wattage than what you need, i.e. your system really only needs 650W but you put an 1000W psu in the system.

You should take a look at our PSU guide. Putting a "bigger" PSU than you need has no negative effects at all, the system will only draw what it requires.
