PC starts but monitor has no connections, some times.

I have a PC with a Abit AN9 32X, AMD 6400 and it has a problem some times where it will not make a connection with the monitor.

Randomly, not all the time. I have noticed some times if it goes to sleep it can connect to the monitor and some times if you just shut it off normally when you try to bring it back up it will not make a connection to the monitor. Maybe 10-20% of the time.

To get it to reconnect I usually have to pull the power cord for a few seconds and then it will come up fine.

What's weird is I had a PCI-X video card installed and it had this problem and now it has a PCI video card and it is doing the same thing. Also tested with two monitors and two video cables, tried a DVI and VGA cable.

I updated the mobo firmware a few months ago and the problem occurs before and after the firmware update. BIOS has also been reset not too long ago with problem before and after.

Any other ideas what I can do to fix it short of a new mobo.

is the dvi/vga cable tightly connected to each end? Is the power cord fit snugly to the monitor?

Yes and yes.

The PC has been moved int he process too and everything reset.

Sounds like a board problem. can you test these gfx cards on another system?

They both work fine on other systems.

I've also tried two PSU's.

I wonder if there is some sort of BIOS setting that could help but I'm not sure.
