Building a new PC - STRICT BUDGET

OK...? I hope everything is cleared up.

Use the ATX case you have along with the 500W PSU.

The Dell case is a mATX case, as is most cases used for prebuilts. They will only hold a microATX board. In this case, since it will be used for office type stuff, an ATX board is not a necessity and a mATX will do just fine. Dell used to use all proprietary parts, so using the Dell case could cause problems if it's layout is proprietary.

Quick question. What would happen if I got a Dell Dimension 2400 and took all the parts out and put it in the ATX case I mentioned... Would it work?

No, ATX motherboards will be big to for your dell dimension 2400.
It will accept microatx boards only and nothing any bigger than that.

you mean if you took the internal parts from a dell dim 2400 and put them in the atx case?

if this is what you mean, then yes they would fit.
