more ram=games smoother. help please

right well my uncle upgraded to a new packard bell computer i got his old one built by hand and i have 1gb ram i have 9 games on there and all of them seem the jerk you know like stop start sort of thing well if i upgraded to 2gb ram should it run smoother please help thanks.


my specs: windows xp profesional
nvidia 7 series
amd athlon xp 2800+
2.25ghz
1.00gb ram
service pack 3

Depends how old the computer is, what games you play, the monitors resolution and what you want to spend.

The above, and over 4Gb of ram, you won't get much more performance.

well the main game is called killing floor its an online game but my online is perfect and prfect ping and stuff it jerks even when playing solo mode here is this games requerments

windows xp etc
1.2ghz intel or equvelent amd processor
512mb ram or 1gb for vista
64 mb direct x 9.0 compatible video card (this dosent matter got it)
direct x 8.1 soundcard
thats it please help with this game .

i can play cod4 low-mid settings on a 939 1.8ghz, 1gig ram, and a 9600gt. So i would say your video card is what is limiting your performance, not the ram. But i agree, one more gig of ram would not hurt....what is the maximum you want to spend?

well my uncles getting me 2gb ram soon and i can play bioshock on medium! and that dosent jerk or anything and bioshock needs a better pc than mine but it still plays and whats video card like nvidia ?? if it is its already at its maximum :/
