Re: NewEgg: Open Box = ???

I have bought an open box ATI X1900XTX video card...about 3 years agao....was a great card....but did not have all the extras.....power cable and dvi adapter.

Re: NewEgg: Open Box = ???

Thanks, i think i'll spend a few extra bucks and go with a new card, just in case. Especially since this is the first time i have ever bought a video card.

Yep , it(the 450 watt Corsair) should work. I , personally like this vid card instead : Newegg.com - Open Box: SAPPHIRE 100245L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Same card , but in my opinion , nicer looking and a better company.
With the 450 watt corsair you listed , you should be good.

Just saw that you are going with a new card...it's gonna cost a bit more.

EDIT* This one is comparable in performance , but is new technology , offers DirectX 11 support and comes from an awesome company

Newegg.com - POWERCOLOR AX4850 1GBD3-PH Radeon HD 4850 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Seems to me like that is the cheapest 4850. $109
i see that the 4850 is ranked just two spots higher than the 9800 gtx+ which i found for 99.99 after $30 mail in rebate: Newegg.com - PNY VCG98GTXPXPB GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
4770, also $99 Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100277HDMI Radeon HD 4770 512MB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
However, i have heard how nvidia cards are bigger, and that is a concern because it will not fit, and ati radeon cards are single slot and smaller. GAH!!! :O Don't know what to do!
4850, 4770, 9800gt, 9800gtx+, 250gts, these are all options, but if i can save 10 dollars and sacrifice a couple fps while gaming, i'm all for it. I will be some glad when i place my order. :p

Ooh tempting, but at $140 that's a bit on the high side, at least for me. With my new psu that's going to be pushing things well over $200.
I think i'm going to stick with a sapphire 4770 or the PowerColor? 4850. It's a bit more in my price range and this way i can have money to actually buy my girlfriend a christmas present lol. I've been researching video cards and comparing prices, etc rather than looking for a gift for her :p

+1 for the find on the $40 psu with free shipping! this definitely frees up my options for video cards now since i can go a bit higher in the price range. :D :D :D Thumbs up!!

One last question, how future proof is the 4770, 4850, and other cards around the same price. All i need is for the card to play newer games until 2013-14 when i go to college. :(Thanks!

Newegg.com - OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ500MXSP 500W ATX12V V2.2 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply compatible with core i7 - Power Supplies
Newegg.com - ZOTAC ZT-98GES3G-FSL GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

I think i am going to end up going for those two items.^^ Comes out at a total of around $127 with all the rebates, etc, shippnig included. That's a pretty good deal for a mid range gaming rig am i right?

I already know how to replace the psu, but for the video card, do i just pop it in, download drivers, and disable the onboard graphics? Thanks!
