ok I swapped out the corsair memory with the gskill memory. This gave me room to upgrade the mobo and the cooler which I did. How does this set up look?

Mobo:EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard ($289)
Newegg.com - EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

CPU: i7 920 D0 Stepping ($305)
Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping

RAM: G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) ($160)
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8TU-6GBPI - Desktop Memory

Cooler: Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme-1366 RT Rev. C CPU Heatsink (Socket LGA 1366) ($75)
Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme-1366 RT Rev. C CPU Heatsink (Socket LGA 1366) - FrozenCPU.com

Video Card: Can't decide what to do yet... 5870 or 5970 ati ($650)

Optical Drive:Great affordable Bluray drive??? Suggestions? ($150)

PSU:Corsair 950TX ($160)
Newegg.com - CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-950TX 950W ATX12V v2.3/EPS12V v2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies

Case:Cooler Master HAF 932 ($140)
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

Hard Drive:Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB ($85)
Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
(Later will add ssd once they are more affordable)

OS:Windows 7 Home Premium ($110)

With this setup paying $650 for the graphics card if I chose to do that would run $2124 before tax. I will probably end up going with the 5870 but I am just torn should I buy it and prices go down on the 5970 and I had just bought the 5870. I want to build for the future. Anyways check the latest update on my build and see how it looks. Thanks everyone!

Just get a 5870 for now, it's plenty of card for any game out there at the moment. And in 6 months or so, when the prices drop, buy a 2nd one :D

1600 cas7 is nice but for $100 less you could have this cas8:
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8TU-6GBPI - Desktop Memory

No to the 975 unless you have money to burn.

Anything less than 1920x1200 would be a waste of a 5970 and the 5870 would still be more than acceptable.

Or this for RAM, Rock solid. I own it and love it.

Newegg.com - OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model OCZ3G1600LV6GK - Desktop Memory
