So my brother picked out what he wants for his computer. Any suggestions??

Seems like you're investing in Old technology. You should be able to go with a phenom with that budget!

I suggest that when you have everything picked out , make multiple , smaller orders when ordering from Newegg. If you get everything in one huge order , they will cram everything into one small box , increasing the probability of damage. The price of shipping will be the same. I speak from experience.

I like the build above , but I think I might sacrifice DirectX 11 for power : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150436&cm_re=4870-_-14-150-436-_-Product

Here's one that's IN STOCK LOL : http://www.google.com/product_url?q...cBhEJKjsNI23DAAAAAAAAAAA&gl=us&hl=en&sa=title

looking to spend right at $700.. not including windows. i've got an extra copy for him. should i go ddr2 or 3 on this build? i'm pretty confused.

oh and another question.. if i run an Intel processor can i still run Radeon cards? or is that just for amd?

yes you can mix ati and intel... you can mix and match whatever brands you like. In your price range, like i've suggested above, the phenom and a radeon card will be your best bet. You can go with the 5770 i suggested, or a 4870 or 4890 like others have suggested.. they're all close in price and performance.

As for memory, since ddr2 and ddr3 are pretty much the same price, why not go with ddr3? More future-proof. So i've selected socket AM3 which supports DDR3 memory.

I just looked at the posts above once more , and realized you had picked a 5770. I retract my earlier statement. I believe the 5770 is the best choice.
