There will be specifications difference, I think the black have lower latencies or higher RPM, or even more cache. Far as I know the green ones are more energy efficient and the black are more for high performance.

The green consumes less power but lacks in performance, while the Black it's the opposite. You also have the WD Blue which is in the middle of the Green and Black.
