NETBOOK TO NAVIGATOR?

Does anybody know if it would be possible to run the TomTom navigator program, or similar, on a netbook computer?
The GPS positon could be supplied by a handheld GPS unit.
With the large (for a Navigator) screen this could make the Netbook a really useful tool.

I'm doubtful it would work, unless you ran it in a VM and had a GPS receiver for it the PC you're using it on, but that would be really useful.

I had an older version ('06 I believe? Which ever was the first to come with a GPS locator) and it worked well with an old (old) Panasonic Toughbook. And it looks like Microsoft used Turn By Turn voice navigation with '10. I'm sure they used it in older versions too, but why not just buy the one with the most up to date maps?
