This is my little brother's laptop, so there's no telling what he did to it...

Anyways the problem started when it would not even load Windows Vista, it kept doing its recovery program and never was able to fix the problem. Which makes me think the hard drive it busted?

So to my best of knowledge I erased the entire hard drive using this program I always use, and again it looked like it recognized a hard drive during this process.

Now when I pop in the Windows installation cd is says it cant find a hard drive?

Also the cd-rom broken/faulty?
-It seems to work fine when you first turn the computer on, it recognizes the cd and starts loading, then 5-10 minutes later, loading stops and it starts making this weird noise over and over again, and will not load anything.

Its almost like when its cold it works for a few minutes and then when it warms up it makes noise and doesn't recognize anything.

Any advice would be excellent.

Does it make sense for a cd rom to read something perfectly for a few minutes and then quit?
