crazy random HD acess

so lately i ve noticed that my pc just starts some major data acess for a minute or so and then stops.
i dont know if it does it during the day but i only nottice it at night.
and i belive its to be my system drive western digital raptor 36gb 10k rpm.
it is very loud when acessing the drive im not sure if its normal of i got a deffective one.
i have 3 other drives which are 7200 rpm and they are not as loud. or have the uncontrollable data acess syndrome...

Can you run your computer with just that hardrive?

well i know what sound other harddrives make and its not as loud as the system drive
so i know it is the system drive that goes on data binge once in a while but i just didnt think that it would be so loud. and why is it acessing the drive is not known to me

10000Rpm is loud compared to7200 So ya your probly fine unless you start crashing or cant find files.
Yea It is about 30% faster,So dont worry to much.Unless like i said crashing or Files missing

is there such a thing as clearing a page file after certain amount of time?
why else would it be acessing the hard drive fro such a long time?

What OS are you running? It could be indexing if it is Vista or Win7.

Do you have a copy of Nero Burning Rom?
If so, make sure you turn off Nero Scout. I find that Nero Scout is more trouble than it's worth.
