Theres really nothing you can do, the HD is on its way out. chkdsk and other utilities rarely are able to do anything at this point.

Well, I'm posting from it now. It's fast as ever. But I am going to make a clone of my partition and just use the 500GB Samsung HDD I just ordered today and RMA this one. I'm contacting WD right now to see what the say.

I think a good fresh format would be good. I'll just install all my games to the faster hard drive when I get it back.

I can't believe I managed to bring it back to life...

I also have a dead 10k rpm raptor in my pc. I still feel WD is a good brand just not looking to get any high rpm HDD's. Raid two 7200's for speed is better, imo.

I don't know, this is my 3rd dying or dead WD. I built a PC for my parents and used a Samsung HDD and it's speedy and the PC runs very well..

Now I need to figure out how to mirror this harddrive over to the new one and I'm good to go =)

I've been looking in the archives for this. It was just discussed for some reason, lexluthar and philbar come to mind. and if I'm not mistaken they mentioned the one I use , acronics, but don't like it.

Thanks guys. Right now its working good, so I defragged and all that fun stuff.... I have Acronis but I might give that clonezilla thing a try =)
