With the good ole' Core i7 920 being the only surviving LGA1366 desktop processor model since i7 launched last year, it too will be discontinued in the near future, but not before the upcoming Core i7 930 is released to market.
The 930 has a clockspeed of 2.88GHz and is much the same in all other aspects; four cores, 8MB of L3 cache, 130W TDP and a price tag of around $284. Word has it that this processor is expected to debut during Q1 of next year.

Is this going to be a socket 1366 CPU, or are they just giving up on that now? Looking to rebuild early in the year, and this might be an option.

edit* Following the article link, it brings you to TechConnect Magazine and it says it will be a 1366 processor.

I can't help but think that Intel will disable it a little so that it doesn't compete against the 950 and 975 like the 920 has. Hopefully I'm wrong :D
