AMD vs. NVIDIA - Are they even playing the same game?

Makes some good points...BUT

they talk about physics and then go on about ATI doing stuff with it..but don't even mention havoc? I found that kind of odd

Microsoft are really in the best position to set the standards for GPU physics/acceleration. People already use DirectX; DirectCompute is really just an extension of its functions. That will make things easier for developers.

Though for everybody who doesn't use Microsoft OS's, there's always OpenCL, which Apple are adopting along with AMD/ATI GPU's for their next systems.

Those two things will pretty much guarantee that the industry won't adopt CUDA/PhysX as standards.

So the real question will be who can implement those standards best.
Maybe GF100 will end up being the fastest again. I wouldn't be surprised.
Though it probably won't be the cheapest option.
