I have a 8800 GT and i was thinking about upgrading to maybe a Nvidia 260. Is it worth the 200 dollars or so. Or should i wait another couple of months?

Was thinking about replacing with either
XFX

Will it matter what kind of mobo or CPU I have? Or will any gfx work regardless.

Motherboard will only matter if you plan to run 2 cards at any point in time.

Since you have an 8800 you have a pci-e x16 slot.

What psu do you have as it may be your only limiting factor?

Current Specs
Case - Antec 900
Mobo - Intel X38 Abit
Gfx 8800 GT 512mb
cpu - 6600 Quad-core 2.4
HD - 320 GB 7200 RPM seagate
Ram - 4 gb 800
PSU - 700 W OCZ

Oh your definitely fine...go with what Nubleet said. If want to upgrade right now, the new ATi 58xx series is the way to do it. If you are stuck on nVidia, then wait it out until they bring out their new 300 line. But there is no specific release date on that, so it's up to you.

But if you're budget is a little tight, a 260 core 216 is a nice choice.

I wouldnt upgrade to a gtx 260 right now, unless you're trying to play some games that the 8800gt just cant deal with. If thats the case then gtx 260 is a good card and happy gaming =)

I would buy the HD4890 instead the GTX260, since it has better performance and the price isn't that different.
