So my dad wants to buy a new computer for cranking his massive spreadsheets, it will not be used for gaming or video editing or anything like that, it just needs to crunch numbers really hard and really fast.

I want to know whats the best we could get for about 1300-1800 (or somewhere around here, a little more is OK) if we were to build it...

IMPORTANT: This thing must be able to have 2 monitors.... they just won't be running games or anything.

Edit: I live in Canada. Also, I do not need monitors, however i DO need an OS.

Edit: I live in Canada. If that helps.

no that doesn't help (you)... :p

Anyways, you didn't say whether you wanted the monitors in that price or not, but in any case, thats a large enough budget that I included 2 monitors in the price. I also included windows 7, but you didn't say whether you already had an OS or not. Here's the list:

As for the case, its all on what your taste is, so you can pick a different one.

Good Luck

Well, just how massive are these spreadsheets? What program will your dad be using?

These things are multiple gigs, taking hours to compile. We would like to shave as much time off as possible, within a reasonable budget (hence the cutting out of the gaming things).

We run on excel on Office 2007 and will (most likely) move on to 2010.

Actually, the mobo has 6 slots eh?

So I could get 12 gigs in that thing.
