Connecting Laptop to tv

Hey all. I'm really not at all computer savvy. I'm trying to connect my laptop to my television. Is there a way to get around my situation, my situation is that my laptop only has the 15pin slot (I'm guessing that's called a VGA), no S cable slot on my laptop. And the other half is that my TV does not have a VGA slot, only an S cable slot. Can you guys please give me some tips on what to do, thanks.

There's not really much you can do I'm afraid.

Well, there is one option. It's possible to connect a laptop with only a VGA out port to a television using something called a 'VGA to TV scan converter'. Here are a few product examples:

Different scan converters will have different output ports, support different resolutions, and vary in image quality. Note however that for most scan converters, the image quality is not that good. Just like with s-video and composite out on graphics cards, you probably won't be able to view fine text due to the lack of clarity and sharpness of the image, and it will only be suitable for viewing large images and video playback.

The VGA is a 15-pin connector commonly found on laptops and other devices. With this port you NEED a PC-to-TV converter to connect laptop to TV. You simply plug the VGA cable from the source into the converter, and use an S-Video or RCA cable out to the TV. The converter is USB powered, so there's no external power adapter to carry around, making this laptop to TV connection entirely portable.
