Forgot there was no disk sent with the computer. There is a recovery partition on the drive I started it and it siad it would re-write every thing on that drive does that mean I will loose pic and stuff
 
Yes it does mean you will lose everything. you will have to contact the PC Manufacturer to get the media replacement.

Can try a tool like the UBCD or SuperGRUB from this topic here:

They may help fix the boot. But from the sounds of it this is not a boot problem but a problem with the file system which this wont help. It will require a XP CD.
 
Well I know u guys told me not to but I backed up all my stuff and used the recovery partition on the computer and everything works just great now and it didnt erase all the media programs. I could not find a xp cd. Thanks for all the help though.
 
No one said not to. Just to have backups of data. Sometimes a reinstall is the quickest solution to problems. Sure you never find out exactly what went wrong but many times it takes longer than a reinstall to figure that out.
