I have heard that window ME is unstable compared to Win 98.
What does the word "Unstable" mean? On my windows ME
system I find that I have to do a Control-Alternate-del for
the cancel program window then punch "End Task" button
several times to cancel the program . Is that what unstable means? I don't like using easycleaner to clean ME registery,
unwanted files etc. which is a problem. I do like the restore
in the help section of Win Me which sets the program to
a earlier setting by date if something goes wrong. Does
Win 98 have that?? Can anyone compare Win ME & Win
98 in detail instead of just saying ME is more unstable?
Thank you,

There's no need to compare them because ME sucks.

-ME has system restore, 98 has not
-ME crashes all the time, 98 does not
-Lots of programs hang/freeze in ME, not in 98
-Once ME crashes you have to boot in safe-mode 1 time to make normal mode work again (not always)
-ME takes longer to load
-Very often ME asks u to enable active desktop and the system hangs
-Emptying the recycle Bin in ME takes forever
-Networking in ME is unstable
-ME has lots of issues
-More issues
-Even more issues

So I would recommend to use either 98SE, 2000 or XP but don't ever use ME.

too many driver conflicts, program errors. i've used it once in my life (for 4 days only), he he he.

i've used win98SE for 3 yrs, and no probs, and now on WInXP (cool as cucumber)

ME is the best thing ever (sarcasm). Seen more on Longhorn. God, you need a DX9 card just to run it???!

unstable means you can never count on something doing the same thing all the time. The ctrl-alt-delete is the same in win98.Use disk cleanup in system tools. The major difference is restore.

Hope this helps-it should

System retore seems like it is a Windows ME feature only. That
feature has got me out of some tight situations at times. Is there
a 3rd party software that provides that feature for the other
windows versions?
thank you,
