im trying to do a fresh instal of windows 7 on my packard bell lj61. problem is when it boots it doesnt give me the option to boot from cd even whens its selected in the bios. what it does say is choose which operating system with only windows vista as an option. ive tried it on my desk top and goes straight to the instal windows 7 screen

You should just have to change the boot order and place the CD/DVD drive as the first boot device.
If that is already selected then see if the DVD is good. Is this a purchased DVD?
As masteroc said try it on another computer to see if the DVD is good (you will probably ahve to chang the boot order on the test PC as well).

Wow, I thought Packard Bell died long ago, I deleted my original post because I was saying it couldn't run Windows 7. However, I see that they are back.
