Computer CPU Spikes, going from 0 to 100 and lag ensues (Could be Hardware)

Alright, recently (Starting 2 days ago) My computer has started slowing down. I only have a feeling its a virus because sometimes my Uncles Kids go on and they don't have an idea as to what sites to go on or not. I probably will advise them next time but for now, I need some help figuring out if it's a virus or not. This usually happens when I play a game, but I'm sure its not the games fault as I'm playing really old ones like Age of Empires 2 and such on a decent Computer (CPU= AMD x2 6000+ 3.0 GHz, HD 4850, 2 gb ram). It makes the whole computer lag really badly for a minute or so then its fine for another 4-5 minutes. I am using Windows 7 RTC at the moment (Urgently needed to use whatever was at hand. Probably switching to official soon) .

I used to look at hijackthis logs a long time ago, but since then have forgotten a lot of it and not used it so much, I will try my best though.

A very useful tool to use is a website:
HijackThis Logfileauswertung
This site lets you copy your logs into it and will automatically analyse the results depending on how people rate the processes you have running. ( E.g if lots of people say abcdxx.exe is bad, it will show up as a possible issue which you can then google ).

Running yours through the site it looks like your computer isn't having any issues due to nasties.

I would try running spybot and maybe ad-aware. See if they come up with anything.
Have you done a memtest to make sure faulty ram isn't causing the stuttering?
Have you tried chkdsk?

These are just things i'd try, please don't take my word as final but these are the steps I would take myself without hesitation. Maybe for now just try the anti spyware apps and do the memtest to rule them out.

Sorry for the late response, I've been busy with other things lately.

I did everything you said to do, I even reinstalled Windows to be on the safe side (Actually, other things started to act up, but it was because my windows 7 RC was screwing up for some reason) and the problem is still there. I'm starting to think that it could be my HD since it is the second newest thing in my computer right now (First being the mobo since my older one fried) and this problem is new. I'm not sure.

Hijack logs should be in there. It hasnt gotten the proper attention cause it is posted in the wrong area. I would suggest a scan with our guide:

Plus there is no Windows 7 RTC. There is Windows 7 RC (Release Candidate) or Windows 7 RTM (Release to Manufacturing). Other than that make sure you have Proper drivers and the software you are using IS compatible with Widnows 7. If you have even 1 piece of software that isnt compatible you will get the things you are.

I've experienced this first hand... Can be very annoying. Do you know what process(es) is/are causing the lag spikes? You suspect the hard drive being at fault, since it's the second newest thing? Why would you not suspect the newest thing, since it's the "central nervous" system of the entire computer? Just 'cause it boots fine, and seems to run fine does not mean it's a good board. I am running a board, that when I first got it, had a bad IGP, now it has a bad ethernet port too.

I suspect it could be the multiple SVChosts that I have running. I know they are important, but sometimes you can have 2 of them taking around 15 percent each. Next to that, Hardware interrupts also goes up (according to process explorer).

I suspected the HD because when this sort of problem was hardware related most people pointed to the hard drive being at fault, and when those who had the problem replaced the HD, everything was fine. My Mobo could be also bad, but I don't think that Lag every so often during games is a problem that occurs with the mobo, but I might be wrong.

to Mak, the only updates I have installed on the computer are the ones I got through Windows update, and Catalyst Drivers (which ARE for Windows 7). Perhaps it could've been the games themselves (AoE III is old compared to win7), but It happens with EVERY game, and now it's even happening with videos from sites like Blip.
