Using an nVidia card for dedicated GPU PhysX Acceleration

So how much does having the separate card for physics actually help? Is it a real boost for modern gaming? Or is it just for folks who do rendering and solid-works stuff?

If I build a new machine with a 'GeForce GTX 295 CO-OP 1792MB DDR3' and use my old 'GeForce 8800GTS 640 DDR3' as the physics card...1. is that even possible (are they compatible in that scenario?) and 2. is it worth it?

Obviously there's no additional cost for the 8800gts since I'd already have it, but there would be "cost" in effort (not to mention consumed power, cooling, and mobo slots).

Thoughts?

Depending on if the game supports physx it could make a good bit of difference. I'm playing arkham asylum right now with 3 285s and its pretty sweet looking.

any thing that runs off of the UT3 engine and supports physx it can make a good difference. source games will not see any improvement.
