I'm using an asus crosshair iii formula with 4gb corsair 1600 ddr3 ram. The timings advertised are 8-8-8-24 but as default everything is 1333 and 9-9-9-24.

In the bios I set the frequency to 1600 but the timings went up to 11-11-11-29. How do I configure the timings so it runs at 1600mhz 8-8-8-24?

All the timing settings in the bios looks really confusing..

In your Bios go to Extreme Tweaker
Set AI Overclock Tuner to Manual
Go to DRAM Timing/Driving Configuration
Make your Adjustments

I'm just looking at the .pdf manual, it may be slightly different depending upon the Bios Version.

It's exactly as you mentioned.

What I've done so far is just change it to 1600 and then the first four of the timings and left the rest as auto.

So it looks like this..

TCL 8
TRCD 8
TRP 8
TRAS 24

Now all of these are auto..
TRTP
TRC
TWR
TRRD

And then there is 2nd information lines (no idea what this is so I left it auto)
TRWTTO, TWRRD, TWTR, TWRWR, TRDRD, TRFC0, TRFC1, TREF

On cpu-z it now says this after the changes I made:

NB frequency - 2006.9

DRAM Frequency - 802.6mhz
FSB/DRAM - 1:4
CL - 8.0 clocks
tRCD - 8 clocks
tRP - 8 clocks
tRAS - 24 clocks
bank cycle tRC - 41 clocks
command rate CR - 1T
