How Much RAM Does Your Graphics Card Really Need?

It was. 4GB ram is standard now yet computers are still sold with 2gb sometimes.

You can't make up your own definitions of the word standard. Argue that it's the standard for enthusiasts, don't argue that it's the de-facto standard cause you are clearly wrong.

At least it can be said that more and more cards are coming with 1gb of vram.

Here is a test between 4890 1gb and 2gb. It ends up being no difference.

But what I want to see is 4890 1gb CF vs 4890 2GB CF. I bet we see a difference there.

The two cards share only 1gb in crossfire on 1gb cards. I am curious to see the difference with 2gb cards.

I've seen 4850 512's in cf vs 1gb's with the 1gb's coming out on top. I don't really know if it will make a difference but I suspect it will.

yes but there aren't really any games that use more than 1gb at the moment, so unless you are gaming at 2560x1600 and above there's not much point.

I'm with guru on 1gb being the new standard.

Even look at the 4670, which I consider to be pretty low/mid range.... the majority of the cards have 1gb vram.
