when i formatted my harddrive all fresh, my computer booted up super fast. in under 15 seconds. i installed a bunch of stuff like adobe, dreamweaver, lighwave and 3dstudio max etc... and now it doesn't boot up as quick... i have a pretty fast computer so i am wondering if there's anything i can do to make it boot up faster? or is this just the result of a lot of programs installed?

Sorry Major Microsoft has already built into Windows XP
the performance enhancing ability of bootvis and it runs at predetermined times. It was intended for program developers
to detect any performance or boot issues at startup.

You should go to Start, Run, type msconfig, then click on the
Services tab at top and uncheck the (Background Intelligent Transfer) service.

Also go to the startup tab and make sure there are no
programs that are not needed that have a check box to
run at startup.

Good Luck.

lots of programs installed definately :)

dont install them on same directory where ur hard drive is, as I keep other partition for installing all softwares, weather its 2MB or 500MB (above that are games, that I dont play ;))

but I have this tool and I have never seen it in windows and it does improve boot performance. U only need to start the tool and select "optimize" from the menu.
Where can I find this tool in windows?
