Hi

This is a continuation of an older post
http://www.techist.com/forums/f76/cheap-gaming-computer-build-217088/
I wanted to build my first Gaming desktop for around $700 and asked for suggestions. based on what i learned, i realized that i needed to do more research and so i spent the last week looking at different builds and parts. this is what i came up with on newegg

So I just wanted to make sure that this build would work
i am also looking for any alternatives that might make this build more awesome but keep the price the same
i especially want to keep the Phenom II processor (need phenom II and quad core for future upgrades), the Video Card (saw that it was 16th on graphic performance list) and the 1 TB hard drive (have lots of crap)
anything else is just chosen because it looks/sounds good and has free shipping
any and all ideas are welcome

Thanks for your help

hec X-power pro is cr@p

I'd say go with
Antec earthwatts EA430 430W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.0 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply $49.99

but I don't want to get yelled at,

"are you insane?! that's not enough power!! you noob "

so maybe this one
OCZ Fatal1ty OCZ550FTY 550W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Active PFC Power Supply $69.99 -$25.00 rebate - $10 promo
10% off w/ promo code cz10, ends 10/18

hey Fat.Clown
thanks for the reply
how do you know that hec x-power pro is cr@p?
newegg gave it 4 eggs and thats a good review.
can you give me some more info?
thanks
Vrman

cool so i checked out the psus based on fat.clown's suggestions and decided to change from the hec to a safe and secure ocz
this is probably going to be my final build and i plan to buy it on mon.
if anyone can find any better parts or combos then i am all ears

one thing, the optical drive ( dvd ) you chose is an IDE drive

those are ones with big fat cables, you should change that to a SATA one

easier for cable management

(costs the same, so why not?)

and you sure you want a 5900 RPM drive and not a 7200 RPM one?

Wow muffin man's combo deals looks to be an even more awesome build than mine
thanks a lot for finding such a great mix. i haven't even been looking into the combos.
all the parts are looking awesome and i was even able to upgrade to am3 without paying over for DDR3 memory that the other mobos require. also love the graphics upgrade. can't go wrong with 4870 --> 4890

my only concern is the PSU. one of my friends already suggested that FSP Epsilon PSU is crap
i googled FSP Epsilon and saw a lot of post about any FSP Epsilon over 500W being a waste
So this is this PSU an FSP epsilon. and if so is it still safe

also its 500W. will it still support the new build that muffin man posted?

edit:
found a good psu & case combo for about 40 buck more
Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
&
Antec EarthWatts EA650 650W Continuous Power ATX12V Ver.2.2 / EPS12V version 2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

more power = safer power (in my opinion) so this should be helpful and antec earthwatts is supposed to be one of the more reliable brands
only problem is that the case has no external 3.5" drive bays
but that is only useful for floppy drive rite? since i don't use floppys then there should be no problem rite?

will prbly get the combo build with this PSU tonite
any other ideas or suggestions or warnings are welcome before i commit
