A new card to tide me over.

Someone has offered to buy me a new graphics card just to set me straight until I can build a new computer. For now I'm running with a Dell XPS 400, with a GeForce 7800GTX, an Intel Core2Duo 2.80GHz, and I'm not sure about the power supply. I was wondering if this card will work in my system without having to replace the CPU or PSU.

It appears that your computer has a 375 watt 30A psu in it. You can open the case and read the sticker on the PSU to confirm this. The recommended psu for your card is a 400 watt. more specifically 26A on the 12v rail.

It is close. If you have many hard drives, cd drives or fans you may not have enough power.

I'm sure I have only 1 fan, and 1 hard drive. I read that even though the sire needs 400 watts, I heard that it can run on lower wattage. Is this true?
