Cant boot after power was cut off during microsoft updates!

ok heres the scenario I rebooted after downloading microsoft updates. (this is for XP by the way) well my copmuters battery died after 3 of the 7 updates were installing. now when I turn on my comp it stops at the screen that says something along the lines...

your power was lost abruptly & information or files may have been corrupted do you want to start your computer in safe mode? or regular?

now whether I push safe mode or to boot regularly it just restarts & goes to the same screen or goes to the bios.

what can I do? what happened? I cant find my og windows disk either to reboot the system :(

anyone? please...

*edit*
so am I just going to have to take it to a shop?

* Moderator please delete this thred* UPDATE: I let my friend use my account to ask you guys a question about his comp but I looked at his comp today to see what was wrong it plainly says to repair using your install disk.

Sounds like your windows got corrupted when your battery.
You are going to need to re-install windows.

next time, don't do windows update or install Service Packs while on battery power.
