does this cpu fan have themal grease on it?

Hello,

Im wondering if this asus x70 cpu heatsink has thermal grease on it? There is some grey stuff at the bottom but im not sure if it is thermal grease or something else? Heres a picture:

Keep switching pictures untill you see the bottom part of the fan and notice that there is grey stuff on it, what is that stuff?

I think that's just different metal for making contact. I don't think any except the included heatsinks come with grease pre-installed.

Why does it matter? Thermal compound is like $5.

Yes, there is thermal paste already on that heatsink. A thermal pad is thermal paste in pad form
