value RAM vs. RAM

All RAM manufacturers offer premium RAM with propietary heat spreaders and frills. But they all also offer "value" RAM, with similar specs. Is this the only difference between the "value" and the "head spreaders included, full priced" RAM? Or is there also a performance difference? (disregarding heat issues, because we all know that heat spreaders can be bought 'after market', including fancy LED heat spreaders.) Is the value RAM worth it?

Basically you get what you pay for.

Performance RAM has much lower latencies. The modules are built for overclocking (which is the reason for the heatsinks).

ValueRAM is intended to use as is.
